The sisal is wound tight and dense, so my cat actually struggles to get a claw hold at first—which is exactly what I wanted for her scratching posts. The 6-inch diameter feels substantial and stable on the base, and the M8 holes at both ends made attaching it to my existing setup straightforward.

This pole is built like a tank, the 6-inch diameter gives my hefty cat plenty of grip and the M8 holes lined up perfectly with my existing setup. Solid enough that it doesn't wobble even when she launches herself at it mid-play.

The M8 holes lined up perfectly with my existing base, so mounting took under five minutes. Wish it came in a longer length for my ceiling-height cat tree, but the 16-inch size works fine for a mid-level perch.
