My two cats immediately claimed the large lying areas on the top platforms, and they actually nap side by side up there without fighting for space. Even the chunkiest of them can stretch out fully, and the sisal poles are thick enough that they've stopped eyeing my couch entirely.
The 8 inch thick sisal poles have held up way better than any scratching post I've owned before. My older cat uses the large lying area on top as her nap spot every single afternoon.
